Does VirtualChannels include media?
No. VirtualChannels organizes and serves media you already own or are authorized to use. It does not provide movies, shows, or live television feeds.
Which Macs are supported?
The launch release requires macOS Tahoe on an Apple silicon Mac (M-series). Intel Macs and earlier macOS versions are not supported. One codec note: hardware AV1 decoding requires an M3 chip or newer — M1 and M2 have no AV1 decoder — while H.264 and HEVC libraries are hardware-accelerated on every supported Mac. Does my media leave my network?
Channel creation, scheduling, and playback stay on your Mac and local network. The website's updates list only stores the email address you submit.
Is VirtualChannels free?
Yes — VirtualChannels is a free download, signed and notarized by Apple and distributed directly (not through the App Store). No purchase, no subscription.
